Playground
E-textile* Playground: Prototyping and Dialogues for Wellbeing:
This workshop invited participants to explore wellbeing - generating new knowledge, interpretations and definitions of wellbeing by using everyday craft and e-textile materials as well as electronic components. Participants worked together and engage in making to explore wellbeing using the New Economics Foundation Five Ways to Wellbeing model: Connect; Be Active; Keep Learning; Give; Take Notice. Through descriptive mapping, prototyping and scenario-based concept generation we a series of low fidelity e-textile prototypes were developed (explained in the longer video). Alongside the prototypes the workshop facilitated a dialogue around wellbeing looking at how we define it.

Light up
love birds
Birds of a feather sew together and now they light up too!

These workshops invite the public to join textile designers, Sara Nevay and Lucy Robertson, to create your very own light up love bird!

Participants learnt basic soft circuitry to make their bird light when it was paired with another.

This workshop was part of Sara Nevay and Lucy’s research around crafting for wellbeing and social connectedness.

We also offer this workshop as a traditional textile workshops where you make the 3D bird and focus on decorating with traditional textile techniques and embellishments.
Colour and Light: patterns for textiles
Working with Thermochromics (heat reactive), Photochromic (UV reactive) and Inkodye this workshop at the V&A London was inspired by photographic processes, nature and pattern.
